All domestic and commercial buildings in the UK available to buy or rent must have an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC). If you own a home, getting an energy performance survey done could help you identify ways to save money on your energy bills and improve the comfort of your home.

What is an EPC?

An Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) is a document that calculates the energy performance of a home.

The EPC details energy use, carbon dioxide emissions and fuel costs of the home. It is measured on a scale from A to G, with A being the most efficient and G the least efficient. It is the Energy Efficiency (EE) rating that’ll be used to make sure all our houses and flats meet the Energy Efficiency Standard for Social Housing by December 2020.

Fine Tune Your Home

Homeowners, instead of just changing energy providers (it's so important to keep checking that you are on the right tariff to keep on top of our bills) we need get to the root of the problem. Make your home more energy efficient!

We provide a house health check and produce an Energy Performance Certificate to show what you can do to improve the comfort and energy efficiency of your home and reduce your energy bills. If you are thinking of making home improvements this can show the cost to install these measures and what your energy bill savings could be over a 3 year period.

The EPC gives you a list of energy efficiency measures specifically related to your property. They are listed in priority and gives a breakdown of what the measures cost and the savings you can make. These vary from inexpensive measures to higher cost technologies but we can point you in the right direction for grants and loans that may be available to homeowners through government initiatives.

If you follow the recommendations it can also increase the value of your property.

Landlords, you must have an EPC in place if you wish to lease out your property.

There are new regulations being consulted on in The Scottish Government which are already in force in England which have a big impact on private landlords.

All private tenants have the right to request improved energy efficiency improvements. Also it is against the law to lease a property below an EPC rating of E. There are huge fines in force who those landlords that do not comply. Click the button to download the Domestic MMES Guide for further information.

Book your EPC now to give you time to make the required improvements!
